Private label hotel amenities: a procurement guide
Made by Anadoris buyer guide · Updated · 6 min read
Private label hotel amenities are guest bathroom products, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and soap, made by a manufacturer under the hotel's own name. Procurement decides the format (single-use minis, wall dispensers or bulk refills), a signature scent, the packaging and the branding, then tests samples in real rooms before approving.

The hotel decides what goes in the room, how it is dispensed, what it smells like and how it looks. The manufacturer supplies the formula, fills the packs and decorates them. We make these in our own facility in Ambala, Haryana, India, and our hotel amenities range is the starting point for most briefs. This guide takes procurement and operations teams through the decisions in the order they usually come up.
What does a private label hotel amenities line include?
Most properties start with a core bathroom set and add items later. A typical line covers:
- Hair: shampoo, conditioner, or a two-in-one.
- Body: body wash or shower gel, and body lotion.
- Hands: liquid hand wash for the basin, plus bar soap if the property prefers it.
- Extras: vanity kits, dental kits, bath salts, room sprays and in-room fragrance pieces.
You can browse the ready products in amenities and refills. If you want the bathroom set to match a spa or retail shelf, our wider body care and hair care ranges share bases that can carry the same scent.
Minis, dispensers or refills: which format should you choose?
Decide format first. It drives packaging, cost structure, the housekeeping routine and how guests see the property. Many properties run a mix: dispensers in standard rooms, minis in suites and refills feeding both.
| Format | What it is | Works well for | Points to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-use minis | Small bottles, tubes or sachets placed per stay | Suites, boutique stays, take-home appeal | Local rules on single-use plastics, waste volume, storage space |
| Wall-mounted dispensers | Fixed pump units refilled or swapped by housekeeping | Standard rooms, gyms, spas, public washrooms | Tamper-evident design, cartridge or refill compatibility, guest perception |
| Bulk refills | Larger containers used to top up dispensers or bottles | Properties running refillable bottles across many rooms | Refill hygiene procedure, labelling of refill stock, compatible pump size |
| Countertop pump bottles | Freestanding bottles refilled in place | Mid-scale rooms that want a premium look without minis | Security against removal, cleaning between refills |
For dispensers and countertop bottles, look at our pump bottles and the eco and refillable packaging range. For minis, small tubes and bottles are the usual choice; sachets are covered by our sachets and gift sets service.
Before you lock the format, check local rules on single-use toiletries in every market you operate. Requirements differ by country and sometimes by city, so confirm with your sustainability or legal team.
How do you choose a signature scent for a hotel?
A signature scent is the one fragrance a guest links to the property. It usually runs through the bathroom set and may extend to room spray, lobby diffusers and candles. Getting it right is mostly about consistency and practicality.
- Start with the brand. Describe the property in a few words: coastal, urban, heritage, wellness. Share these with the manufacturer rather than naming a note on day one.
- Shortlist from existing fragrances. Testing ready fragrances is quicker than building one from scratch. Ask for blotters or small samples of three or four options.
- Test in every base. A scent can smell different in shampoo, lotion and soap. Ask for the shortlist in each product you plan to use.
- Check strength in the room. What smells pleasant on a blotter can feel heavy in a small bathroom. Trial it in a real room with housekeeping.
- Extend carefully. If you want matching candles, diffusers or potpourri, see our candles, incense and potpourri service. Some fragrances behave differently in wax or reed oil, so test those formats too.
A bespoke fragrance is possible through custom formulation. It is quoted per brief, and the main drivers are fragrance development, testing and the quantity you commit to.
How should hotel amenities be branded and labelled?
Branding on amenities has two jobs: look right in the room, and carry the information the law asks for. Plan both together.
Decoration options
- Printed labels: the most flexible route, suited to smaller runs and frequent artwork changes.
- Direct print or hot foil: a cleaner look on bottles and tubes, usually needing larger quantities.
- Coloured packs: tinted bottles or caps in brand colours.
- Outer cartons and kits: boxes for vanity or dental kits, or gift sets for retail.
Our custom packaging service covers decorated packs, quoted per brief. To launch fast on stock packs with your logo, the logo-and-go route is simpler.
What must the label show?
Labelling rules depend on where the products are used and sold. In most markets a cosmetic label carries the product name and function, the ingredient list, net quantity, batch code, the responsible party's details and any required warnings. Minis have little space, so ask early how the information will fit. Confirm the exact requirements for each country with your regulatory adviser.
What should procurement send in an amenities brief?
A clear brief shortens sampling and avoids rework. Send the following in one document:
- Product list: every item, with the format for each (mini, dispenser, refill, bar).
- Pack size and type: the volume you want and whether you already have dispensers that refills must fit.
- Scent direction: brand words, scents you like or dislike, and whether the scent must extend beyond the bathroom.
- Texture and feel: for example a rich lotion versus a light one, or a high-foam body wash.
- Branding: logo files, colour references and the decoration method you prefer.
- Markets: every country where the products will be used, so labelling and documents fit.
- Certifications needed: for example Halal for some properties.
- Quantities and rhythm: expected launch quantity and how often you will reorder.
- Delivery: single warehouse or several properties, and the Incoterms you prefer.
You can send it straight through our inquiry form.
How does an amenities project run from brief to delivery?
Most hotel projects follow the same steps. Our how it works page has the full outline.
- Brief and shortlist. We suggest ready formulas and fragrances that fit your brief.
- Samples. Samples are available on request so your team can test them in rooms.
- Artwork and packaging. You approve pack choice and artwork proofs.
- Documents. We prepare product documentation for your markets through our testing and documents service.
- Production. Ready formulas start from 500 units per product.
- Dispatch. We pack and ship to your warehouse or properties. Export is covered by our fulfilment and export service.
Timelines depend mainly on whether you use a ready formula or a custom one, whether the packaging is stock or decorated, and how quickly samples and artwork are approved.
What should you ask an amenities supplier before approving them?
Amenities run in large volumes across many rooms, so consistency matters more than a perfect first sample. Ask:
- Is production in the supplier's own facility, and what certifications does it hold? Our facility is ISO certified, GMP-compliant and a US FDA registered facility, and we can also support Halal and Kosher requirements. Read more on our manufacturer page.
- How is batch-to-batch consistency of scent and colour checked?
- Which documents come with each product, and in which language?
- Can refills and dispensers be supplied as a matched system?
- How are artwork changes handled after launch?
How can amenities cut waste without spoiling the guest experience?
Guests notice a hotel's approach to waste most in the bathroom. A few practical choices help:
- Move standard rooms to dispensers or refillable bottles. Fewer small packs are thrown away after each stay.
- Match refill containers to your pumps. A matched system keeps refilling simple for housekeeping.
- Keep minis where they add value. Suites, spa rooms and turndown gifts may still suit single-use packs.
- Review outer packaging. Kits and cartons can often be simplified without losing the look.
Be careful with environmental wording on the pack or in the room. Describe what you have actually done, such as switching to refillable bottles, rather than making broad green claims.
How do you plan amenity reorders across several properties?
Groups often hit stock gaps when each hotel orders on its own. Agree one product list and one set of pack sizes across the group where possible, so the same items can move between properties. Share expected room numbers and occupancy patterns with your supplier, and plan reorders early enough to allow for production and transit. Keep artwork files and approved samples in one place so every reorder matches the original.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for private label hotel amenities?
Ready formulas start from 500 units per product. Custom formulas, bespoke fragrances and decorated packaging are quoted per brief, because the quantity that makes sense depends on the pack, the decoration method and the development work involved. If you are unsure, start with ready formulas in stock packs and move to custom work once volumes are clear.
Are dispensers better than minis for hotels?
Neither is better in every case. Dispensers suit standard rooms and public areas and cut packaging waste; minis suit suites and properties where guests value take-home items. Many hotels use both. Check local rules on single-use toiletries before choosing, as these differ between countries and sometimes between cities.
Can we have our own signature scent?
Yes. Most properties shortlist from existing fragrances first because it is quicker, then test them in each product base and in a real room. A fully bespoke fragrance is possible through custom formulation and is quoted per brief. If the scent will extend to candles or diffusers, test those formats as well.
What documents will we receive with the products?
Documentation depends on the markets where the products are used. It typically includes product specifications, ingredient lists and safety information, with further paperwork for export. Tell us every country in your brief so we can prepare the right set, and confirm final requirements with your regulatory adviser.
Do you supply amenities outside India?
Yes. We export to the GCC, UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, China and Hong Kong, South-East Asia and Africa. Share your delivery points and preferred shipping terms in the brief, and we can plan dispatch to a central warehouse or to individual properties.
