Essence Private label formulas for sun exposure
Sun exposure covers products built for days outdoors and daily city wear: facial sunscreens, mineral sun creams, SPF complexion make-up, lip products with SPF and sun-season hair care. Our ready formulas come in fluid, cream, cushion and stick formats. SPF and PA values must be substantiated by testing for each destination market before you sell. Brands can request samples and brand formulas from 500 units.

Developing a sun care product
Sunscreens are the most tightly regulated cosmetic format most brands will handle. In some markets they are classed as cosmetics, and in others, including the USA, as over-the-counter drugs. Plan the regulatory route first, then choose the texture.
Formats that suit it
- Facial sunscreens in fluid, gel-cream or cream textures. See private label sun care.
- Mineral sun creams built on zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which are mineral UV filters.
- SPF complexion products such as foundations, concealers and cushions. Browse face make-up.
- Lip products and hair mists for sun-season ranges.
Texture and pairing choices
Customers drop a sunscreen they dislike wearing, so finish matters: no white cast, no heaviness, and a feel that sits well under make-up. Mineral formulas can leave a white cast on deeper skin tones, so test across a range of skin tones before choosing.
Packaging
Tubes and pumps suit fluids and creams. Cushions and sticks need compatible components. Packs should be tested with the formula, because some UV filters and oils can affect certain plastics.
Claims that need evidence
Every SPF and PA value, and any water-resistance or broad-spectrum statement, must be substantiated by testing to the method the destination market accepts. A value tested for one market may not transfer to another. Do not promise outcomes about sun damage. Plan testing with your importer or regulatory adviser, read how product development works, or brief us on custom formulation.
Questions about sun exposure products
Can I sell your sunscreen with the SPF already on the label?
Only after the SPF and any PA, broad-spectrum or water-resistance values have been substantiated by testing accepted in your destination market. Methods and labelling rules differ between regions, and in the USA sunscreens are regulated as over-the-counter drugs. Confirm the route with your importer or regulatory adviser before printing labels.
What is the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreens?
Mineral sunscreens use zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as UV filters. Other sunscreens use synthetic UV filters, often called chemical filters. Both are widely used. Mineral formulas can leave a white cast, so test the finish across skin tones. Which filters are permitted varies by market.
Can make-up carry an SPF?
Yes. Our catalogue includes foundations, concealers, cushions and lip products with SPF. The same rule applies as for sunscreen: each SPF value must be tested for the market where you sell it. Many brands position SPF make-up as an extra step alongside a dedicated sunscreen.
