Private label rose formulas

Rose appears in cosmetic formulas in three main forms: rose water, the fragrant water collected when rose petals are steam distilled; rose extract; and rose oil for scent. Brands use it for its classic floral fragrance and a soft, refreshing feel on skin. Our catalogue carries rose in body washes, a bubble bath, a serum, a wash-off mask, a lotion and a massage oil. Brands can sample and brand them from 500 units.

Developing a rose product

Rose suits both bath and skincare. Body washes and bubble baths lead with fragrance, while serums, lotions and wash-off masks use rose water or extract for a gentle, refreshing story. Rose water also makes a familiar base for toners and face mists.

Choosing the rose ingredient

Rose water and rose extract bring a soft scent and a name customers know. Rose essential oil and rose absolute are far more concentrated and costly, so they are used in small amounts or blended with other notes. Rose geranium is a different plant, a pelargonium; it smells rose-like but should not be labelled as rose.

Fragrance allergens

Rose oils naturally contain fragrance components such as citronellol and geraniol, which some markets require to be declared on the label above set thresholds. Review your formula's allergen breakdown for each destination market with your regulatory adviser.

Packaging and claims

Rose water and rose-scented formulas need a sound preservative system and a fragrance that stays stable in the chosen pack. Keep claims to scent and feel, such as "refreshing" or "softer-feeling skin"; anything measurable needs test data. A named rose such as Damask rose, or a named origin, should be backed by supplier documentation.

In bath products, rose pairs naturally with oud, sandalwood, vanilla or citrus, so one rose base can support several scent variants.

Questions about rose products

What is the difference between rose water and rose oil?

Rose water is the fragrant water collected when rose petals are steam distilled, so it is light and used as a base or ingredient in toners, mists and skincare. Rose oil is the concentrated essential oil from the same process, used in small amounts for fragrance. Both appear differently on the ingredient list.

Is rose geranium the same as rose?

No. Rose geranium is a pelargonium, a different plant whose oil has a rose-like scent. It is often blended into massage oils and body products for a floral note. Your ingredient list and product name should describe exactly which plant is used, so customers are not misled.

What is the minimum order for a private label rose product?

Ready formulas in our catalogue start from 500 units per product, including body washes, a serum, a wash-off mask and a lotion. Request samples first to check texture, scent and feel, then choose your pack and add your own branding. Changes to the formula, scent or packaging are quoted separately, based on your brief.
